There's Something for Everyone
So you’re thinking about joining us for the 3rd Building Bridges Retreat on Star Island, but not sure what there will be for your kids and teens to do!!! Well, look no further. I am so excited to let everyone know, that I am serving as the Young People’s Program Chair again this year and have some amazing things planned.
The main focus of this year’s Young People's Program will be on kids and youth having the opportunity to create new friendships and rebuild bonds. I hope you will all join us for what is sure to be an amazing week!

Here is a bit more information on what Star has for kids and youth.
The Young People’s Program - often referred to as YPP, has something for everyone, with programming in the morning and childcare in the afternoon to give parents and caregivers time to enjoy their programing or just take a break.
Nursery and Pre-K (birth - 4years old)
Our Nursery and Pre-K group meets in the morning and has the option of afternoon childcare. This group is staffed by two-three wonderful volunteers who have lots of experience working with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Their main focus is providing a safe, caring, and friendly environment full of fun!
Teachers make sure that days are filled with lots of games and laughter, as kids play with toys, take nature walks and island field trips, enjoy story and snack time, play on the playgrounds and so much more!
Lower Elementary Group (5 -8 years old )
The Lower Elementary group meets in the morning and has the option of afternoon childcare. This group is led by two wonderful volunteers, who will create the perfect environment to have fun and make new friends in! Days are spent enjoying nature, taking island field trips to the Pel Garden and Marine Lab (to name a few), doing arts and crafts, storytelling, singing, laughing and so much more!.
Days are spent with team build games and making the “famous” bottle rockets that will be launched on the front lawn later in the week.
Upper Elementary (9-11 year olds)
The Upper Elementary group meets in the morning and has the option of afternoon childcare. This group is staffed is led by two amazing volunteers who spend their time helping kids bond as they do all kinds of island exploration, create and leave out kindness rocks, visit the marine lab, row to the neighboring island of Smutty Nose, and so much more!
Days are filled will be filled with lots of laughs and time spent creating the “famous” duck boats for the duck tape regatta!
Jr. Youth (12-15 year olds)
The Middle School Youth group each morning with two amazing youth group leaders. Days are spent making new friends, enjoying group games, crafts, taking hikes and exploring nature, rowing to nearby islands, and island field trips!
Towards the end of the week, the Middle School Youth Group participates in a late-night bonding experience full of games, music, ghost stories, and more.
Sr. Youth (16-20 year olds)
The High School Youth Group spends their mornings with two amazing youth advisors doing tons of community-building activities such as games, rowing to neighboring islands to go swimming, and exploring the many treasures the island has to offer.
Youth will work together in a social justice workshop, plan and lead an evening worship service, and work on an island service project. Those who are interested can take part in the annual softball game!
